Electric car designer redesigns the front grille
Release date:2021-07-27
In the car of the future, there is a new place for designers to develop their creativity.
Recently, Bloomberg interviewed some car designers to learn about their treatment of the front grille of the electric car.
Since there is no engine to cool down, car manufacturers no longer need this grille, but they still want the car to look familiar. This gives them more flexibility in design.
Hummer electric car design director Rich-Schell said, "We are very interested in this. It's like an illusion."
The grille of the Hummer electric car illustrates the brand; the German BMW embodies the appearance of a traditional car, while also providing a space for cameras and sensors.
The designers of Ford Mustang Mach-E designed a new panel for the grille, with the brand's pony logo on it.
"Our customers don't want to promote scientific projects," said Gordon Platto, Mach-E's chief designer. "They want vehicles that look beautiful and reflect the brand decently."
